Learning music should be enjoyable and engaging. Every lesson is tailored to the student's interests and abilities, with clear goals we set together.
Students develop solid piano technique through songs, composition and theory. To keep things fun, lessons include storytelling, ear training with popular music and rhythm games, so students connect more deeply with what they're learning.

Meet your teacher
Hi, I'm Cher
I'm a registered teacher with the Royal Conservatory of Music, with over 8 years of experience teaching students aged 4 to 35, from beginners to intermediates. I've been playing piano for over 15 years and completed my ARCT studies under the mentorship of Juilliard pianist Jerri Mercer.
With a unique background in psychology and classical piano pedagogy, I love helping students of all ages develop a lifelong love for music.
As an award-winning concert pianist, I've performed at venues including:

- Jansen Art Center, Washington

Where are the piano lessons held?
Lessons are in my home studio in Burnaby, BC, and I teach students from both Burnaby and New Westminster. The exact address is shared once your booking is confirmed.
What ages and levels do you teach?
Kids, teens and adults are all welcome. I've taught students aged 4 to 35, from complete beginners to intermediate players.
How much do piano lessons cost?
Piano lessons are $35 for 30 minutes, $54 for 45 minutes and $65 for 60 minutes. Tuition is paid monthly. Please enquire for RCM theory pricing.
Do you offer a free trial lesson?
Yes! You can book a free 20-minute trial consult for piano lessons. Fill out the trial lesson form with the student’s age and your availability and I’ll get back to you.
Which RCM theory levels do you teach?
I teach RCM Harmony 8, Harmony 9 and Harmony 10, as well as History. Please enquire about lower levels or to join the waitlist for group lessons.
